ILH :: LESSON 2 - Personalities, Skills & Interests

Skills - Second Method (continued)

For our next magic trick, and still working with skills, we'll clone another chair. This time, clone the Chair - Living Room - Moderate 1, which you should be able to find under chairslr1tile.

Fig. 1.37

Name this chair universitychair.iff, and identify it as YOUR university chair. Close Tmog when you are done, put a copy into your skills folder, and then launch IFF.

Have your Code Book handy so you can refer to the skills codes as we'll be using all of them this time around. Well, nearly all.

Open universitychair.iff in IFF, and navigate to the BHAV section. At this time I'll remind you that chairs are principally created for sitting. Our university chair will enable the Sims to learn basic skills as well; however, if you lumped all the skills to be learned under the main four behaviors, then once the Sim learns all the skills there is to learn, the chair would be a useless object and all your hard work will go by the wayside pretty quick.

We're going to leave the main behaviors alone and use them stictly for the "sit" command. That way, when all the skills are used up, we'll still have a lovely moderate chair for our Sims to sit on. We're going to put our skills into "other" main commands which we will create by duplicating the main ones. I know it sounds confusing, but just sit tight and follow along. You'll soon see what we are trying to do.
