Animated Wall Display Bases (luminous)
No Expansion Pack Required

About the Hack: This object is a cross between artwork and a TV so may be viewed while standing or sitting. Sims are apt to gaze at it longer if doing so as a group activity.

Wall Mounted Aquarium 'Video Displays'

Touted as a "video display" to explain the lack of depth but made backless (instead of having an electronic looking back) so it may be pass off as a real aquarium. The screen/tank is "illuminated" so looks lighted in dark rooms (leaving the framing in shadows. GREAT look).

While these were originally created for making private and public aquaria (along with any other institutions devoted to marine studies), these tanks also allow restaurants shops and clubs to install some posh looking decor and they just plain rawk in any home.

Being "video displays" these objects are categorized with the TVs (for a whopping 7999$).

Available in a choice of downloads
Problem: These files can get quite large. Large and animated files can have a negative impact on fuller harddrives and slower computers.
Solution: Each tank is available in 3 forms so you may pick the one(s) that suits you best. (See below for tips on choosing)

The "A series" tank is graced with a dark wooden frame. I colored it to match some furniture in one of my Sim's studies and was delighted to find that it matches one of the Maxis walls almost perfectly.

Choosing the version that's right for you

  • Anyone having trouble with the game running slowly should not use the animated version since animated objects slow the game down (and each tile counts as "an animated object").
  • Anyone nearing their download limit should choose a select few of the individual stationary rather than taking the whole set.
  • The 4-in-1 Stationary versions means a much MUCH neater buymode catalog (3 similar looking objects instead of a string of 12). Decorators who don't play in live mode will find this the best choice.
  • The animated tanks do tend to look the best while playing but the movement in these tanks is subtle (taken directly from Maxis fish tanks) and, in my opinion, not worth sacrificing performance for. (Note: This may not hold true on clones.)
  • Notes To Object Makers:
    See Readme for more details

  • Custom A's and Z's for this object were made for this object. If you decide to let Transmogrifier generate A or Z's you may end up having to re-work them.
  • Please note that T-mog will strip the Luminous flag (the bit that makes the screen glow in the dark) out if you reposition the X and Y co-ords manually. Simply recoloring (or re-texturing) the object will NOT strip the glow-in-the-dark out.
  • These objects were designed so tiles CAN be added or removed without requiring coding changes.
These objects were designed so animation frames CAN be added or removed without requiring coding changes.
  • Each tank is made of 2 sprites layered together (to create the illuminated tank effect).
